New NFL rules posted on 03/24/2009

So the ownersvoted on and passed 4 new "safety" rules:

DANA POINT, Calif. (AP) -NFL owners have passed four player safety rules for next season. One of them is the elimination of blindside helmet-to-helmet blocks.

The changes came Tuesday at the NFL meetings in California.

The new rules state that the initial force of a blindside block can't be delivered by a helmet, forearm or shoulder to an opponent's head or neck. An illegal blindside block will bring a 15-yard penalty.

Initial contact to the head of a defenseless receiver also will draw a 15-yard penalty.

On kickoffs, no blocking wedge of more than two players will be allowed. Also, the kicking team can't have more than five players bunched together pursuing an onside kick.

Slow monday in Eagles land... posted on 03/23/2009

Well it looks like it will be slow on Eagles talk while the owners meetings are going on.

The Eagles brass is not home to work and they have a history of not doing any team business at these meetings.

Even the team’s official website is stuck posting an interview with the coach taped last week where her talks about but says nothing about the offensive line. He honestly said that he does not have Stacy Andrews penciled in at any position. WTF…can you be any more noncommittal?

Must everything have to be a mystery and they think they are keeping the world guessing what they are doing?

Does he think that the rest of the NFC East is losing sleep wondering who is playing where on the Eagles offensive line?

Can the draft get here so we have something real to talk about? LOL

Paulie Beernuts reviews the Eagles running back situation. posted on 03/21/2009

So…yesterday the team addressed a glaring hole in the back field of this west coast offence….they signed a real full back.

Fullback Leonard Weaver has agreed to a one-year contract with Philadelphia, giving the Eagles a much-needed blocker in the backfield.

Weaver spent his first four seasons with Seattle. He ran for 130 yards and caught 20 passes for two touchdowns last season.

The Eagles played without a true fullback most of last season, and it cost them in several short-yardage situations. Converted halfback Tony Hunt started but was cut after seeing limited action. Defensive tackle Dan Klecko was moved to fullback and Kyle Eckel was signed off waivers to add depth.

Weaver, 6-foot and 242 pounds, is a solid blocker and can be effective with the ball. He has 356 yards rushing (4.4 yards per carry) and one TD in 46 career games. He also has 60 receptions for 547 yards.

Paulie Beernuts wonders about the Eagles Offensive line plans. posted on 03/20/2009

So what are the Eagles plans for the Offensive line? Did they actually plan to allow both veteran tackles go without a back up plan?

OK…so they have filled one position, but what about the other? There have been rumors that they might move Shawn Andrews over. That would be a mistake. You can not count on someone coming back from the “problems” he had. The best bet is to leave him there and hope he comes back and plays to the best of his ability in a position he is comfortable in and then think about moving him next year.

That would leave you with the option of filling the void with a veteran for one year and maybe drafting someone. Obviously none of their previous draft picks were able to beat out the 2 players that they are letting go, so the team needs to look elsewhere.

Hello Eagles Fans!

My name is Paul Kelly and I am a life long Eagles fan.

I live and die with the team...bleed green and live for sunday afternoons.

With this site, I want to create a place for all fans to discuss the Eagles with their true and honest opinions.

Good or bad, we will address it. Questioning the coach or the "Organization" is not off limits.

We are fans and are entitled to our opinions and to our dream of winning a Superbowl. That is what it is all about isn't it? Winning the big game?

Not just getting there or coming up short 4 times, but winning the whole thing.

Here we can discuss what the team does or should do to achive this goal.

I want to hear your opinions and give you a place to vent and be heard.
